The Premier League According To Fifa 16… Gameweek 37

Leicester City are the Barclay’s Premier League Champions for the 2015-16 season! Wow. What an achievement. Despite Leicester being crowned champions, there are still two Gameweeks left in the Premier League. As per usual, we have been playing a lot of Fifa 16 to find out how the matches will unfold.

Last week we only got one result correct, but we were damn close with some of the others. I think we need to finish off the Premier League season with a few more correct predictions.

Saturday, 7th May:

Norwich v Man U

Norwich will only earn a point against a dogged Manchester United side. Lingard will open the scoring for United with a beauty, but against the run of play. Naismith will grab the equaliser for Norwich, but they will rue missed chances and a stubborn De Gea at full-time.

Predicted Result: Norwich 1 – Manchester United 1. Actual Result: Norwich 0 – Manchester United 1.

Can Aston Villa stop Newcastle’s impressive run of results? According to Fifa 16, they will. In a scintillating encounter, Villa will come out on top thanks to two goals from Ayew, and a strike from Sinclair, despite Cissokho being shown a straight red. Cissé will score twice too, but this result could relegate Newcastle.

Predicted Result: Aston Villa 3 – Newcastle 2. Actual Result: Aston Villa 0 – Newcastle 0.

Bournemouth will completely dominate West Brom throughout the entire game, and win with goals from Wilson and Daniels. Wilson will run the show, and it will be what he deserves after spending months out through injury.

Predicted Result: Bournemouth 2 – West Brom 0. Actual Result: Bournemouth 1 – West Brom 1.

Zaha will score the winning goal in the 90th minute, securing Crystal Palace’s place in the Premier League for another year. There won’t be much to separate the two sides, but Palace will edge it.

Predicted Result: Crystal Palace 1 – Stoke 0. Actual Result: Crystal Palace 2 – Stoke 1.

Sunderland will walk away with all three points after a nervy, tense affair against Chelsea. Kirchoff will score the only goal, but Chelsea will hit the post three times; finding their mojo after Borini sees red.

Predicted Result: Sunderland 1 – Chelsea 0. Actual Result: Sunderland 3 – Chelsea 2.

Ayew will score the only goal in a close contest devoid of quality. This will see the end of West Ham’s slim hopes of a top-four finish.

Predicted Result: West Ham 0 – Swansea 1. Actual Result: West Ham 1 – Swansea 4.

Leicester’s lap of honour will have to come after a tight, goalless draw. It will all be Leicester, but they just won’t be able to find the back of the net. Who cares though? Leicester City have won the freakin’ Premier League.

Predicted Result: Leicester City 0 – Everton 0. Actual Result: Leicester City 3 – Everton 1.

Sunday, 8th May:

Tottenham will finish the season strongly at White Hart Lane, despite the upset of losing the title race to Leicester. Kane and Rose will score for Spurs and Long will grab one back for Southampton. Kane will likely win the Golden Boot, but he won’t get a chance to score in Spurs’ final match, as he will pick up Tottenham’s first red card this season.

Predicted Result: Tottenham Hotspur 2 – Southampton 1. Actual Result: Tottenham Hotspur 1 – Southampton 2.

Liverpool’s fantastic, free-flowing attacking prowess will see them over the line against Watford: despite picking up two red cards for Moreno and Can respectively. Sturridge will score the only goal.

Predicted Result: Liverpool 1 – Watford 0. Actual Result: Liverpool 2 – Watford 0.

The battle for third place will go right down to the wire after this thrilling game of football. De Bruyne will score two, and Aguero a penalty, but Arsenal will bring it back level twice through Giroud and Welbeck.

Predicted Result: Manchester City 3 – Arsenal 2. Actual Result: Manchester City 2 – Arsenal 2.

Tuesday, 10th May:

Kouyaté, Lanzini and Antonio will all score in a very one-sided match against Manchester United. What a result for the Hammers’ last ever match at Upton Park. One for the fans.

Predicted Result: West Ham 3 – Manchester United 0. Actual Result: West Ham 3 – Manchester United 2.

Wednesday, 11th May:

It seems likely that Norwich are going down to the Championship, again. Although the Canaries will earn a point against Watford, it probably won’t be enough to keep them in the top-flight. Howson will score for Norwich and Ighalo for Watford.

Predicted Result: Norwich 1 – Watford 1. Actual Result: Norwich 4 – Watford 2.

This will be a cracker, but the points will be shared – despite Sunderland showing plenty of endeavour going forward, hitting the post three times. M’Vila will score for Sunderland, whilst Lukaku will net one of his own for Everton. Can Sunderland stay up? It will go to the final day.

Predicted Result: Sunderland 1 – Everton 1. Actual Result: Sunderland 3 – Everton 0.

Can Liverpool finish in the top five? Fifa 16 certainly thinks they have a chance. Firmino and Sturridge will score the goals for Liverpool, with Costa grabbing one back for Chelsea. However, Liverpool will play outstandingly well, the result will be flattering on Chelsea.

Predicted Result: Liverpool 2 – Chelsea 1. Actual Result: Liverpool 1 – Chelsea 1.
